Poker Players Alliance needs help

Dear Poker Player:

In 2007, the Poker Players Alliance will be undertaking a nationwide campaign to raise awareness and recruit new members. While we have strong membership in nearly every state, we want to formalize our presence by establishing Directors, Representatives at the State, Regional and local levels who will work directly with us to help grow and represent the organization. Since the PPA is a not for-profit organization, this will be a volunteer position. Member representatives will receive guidance and support from the PPA.

The new State Directors will play an important role in the future of the Poker Players Alliance. As the recent election showed, poker players are becoming a voice that cannot be ignored. Harnessing that power on a state-by-state basis will be an essential element of our continued success.

The PPA is interested in:

  • Motivated and energetic individuals who are passionate about promoting and defending the game of poker.
  • Individuals who are creative self-starters and are able to organize others, and activities at a local level.
  • People who are politically connected to their elected officials, or have a willingness to engage political figures on poker issues.
  • People who will be comfortable talking with the media, both print and broadcast, on issues important to the poker playing community.

If you are 21 years old or over and feel you fit this description, the PPA wants to hear from you. Please send us, via e-mail ([email protected]), a 250-500 word essay on why you want to be and should be a PPA State Director (please put “State Director” in the subject line). All PPA members who submit an essay will be given careful consideration by our selection board.

Please include your name, address, state and zip code in your e-mail and the role for which you would like to volunteer. If you have your membership number please include this in your e-mail.

The deadline for submission is January 5th, 2007.

Decisions will be made by mid-January.

Thank you for all you do for poker. We look forward to receiving your essays over the coming days!

Best regards,

Michael Bolcerek, President
Poker Players Alliance

Rakeback confirmations and support replies are late

Hi,

I have been responsible for sending out rakeback confirmations and answering support questions. Since I went out cold over a week ago, no-one at our office was taking care of these matters.

We are sorry for these delays, and are now going through the confirmations and emails. Hiring additional support staff is on the agenda, so that we can serve you better in the future.

Regards,

Bush Signs Port Security Act, Starts Clock Ticking on Provisions

SAFE Port Act sets timetables for programs, includes ban on Internet gambling Washington — President Bush has signed into law a port security bill authorizing $3.4 billion over five years for security measures. Congress passed the bill September 30 before adjourning to campaign ahead of November congressional elections. (See related article.) At the October 13 signing ceremony, Bush said, “Our seaports are a gateway to commerce, a source of opportunity, and a provider of jobs. But the ports could also be targets for terrorists, he said, and the U.S. government is “determined to protect them. The new law codifies several security programs already under way, setting timetables for them in some cases. It places deadlines on the Department of Homeland Security for expansion of security programs with shippers and overseas ports — the Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism and the Container Security Initiative — and requires the department to develop a plan to resume maritime commerce in the event of a terrorist attack on a U.S. port. Within three months from the October 13 signing date, three overseas ports will be chosen for a pilot program in which 100 percent of cargo being sent to the United States will be scanned by radiation detectors. By six months from the signing date, pilot programs must begin to test the readers of biometric identification cards that port workers will carry. The bill will require the 22 largest U.S. ports to scan all incoming cargo for radiological weapons by the end of September 2007. The bill was stripped of measures dealing with rail and mass-transit security before Congress passed it. But a ban on Internet gambling was added to it, which will harm the earnings of overseas companies that had offered online poker to U.S. players. Chimpanzee Plays Poker for $10,000

July 21 18:11 by Rakeback.com Admin

We’ve already seen some outrageous marketing stunts in the gambling industry so far. The most recent feat being Golden Palace casino having their domain name tattooed on a woman’s face.

So what could possible be next? Try a chimpanzee entering the $10,000 World Series Of Poker main event.

That’s right. Mikey the chimp, sponsored by Pokershare, could be sitting next to you at the table. Pokershare staked the $10,000 entry fee for Mikey and have great hopes for him.

Mikey has been professionally trained to recognize colors, shapes, and perform on TV, and his favorite move is going “all in”.

As Pokershare says: “A chimp is capable of playing poker at least as well as Phil Hellmuth Jr., if not better.”
