Max Steinberg is a 27 year old professional poker player from Fairfield, Iowa, who now lives in Oakland, California. He dropped out of American University in Washington, DC, to pursue poker full-time in 2008. He won a WSOP bracelet in 2012. ($1,000 NLH Event #33)

Steinberg will be the only player at this year’s final table who already owns a championship bracelet. This previous experience should come in handy for Steinberg, as he looks to apply pressure and chip up. Currently he’s sitting in the middle of the pack, but he does have a healthy stack of just over 50 big blinds.

Steinberg won a $27 satellite online to qualify for the $10,000 buy-in main event. Interestingly enough, it wasn't a poker satellite, it was in fact a daily fantasy sports (DFS) satellite on DraftKings. These days his typical workday consists of more DFS than poker.

Steinberg had this to say about splitting his time between DFS and poker, "These days it's mostly daily fantasy sports. In May, I didn't play any poker. The reason is, and it wasn't that I don't have time for poker, because I do. I probably spend six hours a day doing daily fantasy, I just felt like it was too much of the same thing. It's like two games that you're playing and there's money swings, they're both in a similar vein. I just wasn't feeling fulfilled doing both, and I really love daily fantasy sports.”

Come November, however, poker will once again be front and center for Steinberg as he looks to become the 2015 WSOP Main Event Champion and pocket the life changing money.

The final table resumes November 8th at 8:30 pm ET live on ESPN. Leading up to the final table, ESPN will also be airing weekly coverage of the 2015 WSOP Main Event Championship.

Next week we’ll meet, sixth in chips Thomas Cannuli from Cape May, New Jersey, USA.
