Carbon Poker – Scam?
2015 update – Carbon remains open but no longer accepts affiliate signups, so we can no longer offer support or exclusive promotions. For a rakeback-friendly room, we recommend Americas Cardroom. |
Carbon Poker – Scam?
‘Is Carbon Poker legit or a scam?’ – a fair question to ask before taking the plunge to gamble online, especially as a resident of the United States. Carbon Poker is a Rakeback.com recommended room, based on the answers to four main criteria listed below.
Is Carbon Poker Legal to Play On?
Yes. The Poker Players Alliance website clarifies the legality of playing poker on the internet from within the United States (with the exception of some states e.g. Washington state).
There is currently no federal law that prohibits anyone from playing poker online. The UIGEA act of 2006 does not change any federal gambling laws and does not make it illegal for people to play on the Internet. However, on April 15, 2011 the U.S. Department of Justice upped the ante and has shut down some of the leading global online poker providers. This has effectively cut-off US poker players to these sites and seriously restricted the rights of Americans to play online poker. – ThePPA.org |
Carbon welcomes both US and rest of world players, with a few exceptions.
Are Carbon Player Funds Segregated?
Yes – officially. Carbon and Aced Poker (which Carbon owns) run on the Merge Cashier, licensed and required by the Kahnawake Gaming Commission to segregate player funds. Carbon Poker reps and owners have assured the segregation of player monies in interviews.
When the DOJ seized PokerStars, Full Tilt Poker, Absolute Bet and Ultimate Bet on ‘Black Friday’ only PokerStars paid back player balances, having the funds on hand in a segregated account.
FTP had claimed funds were segregated – a scam. While it isn’t possible to confirm segregation without inside information, Carbon also owns a profitable sportsbook and casino and has shown no indication of financial instability.
Is the Carbon Gameplay Rigged?
No – see our Carbon Poker Security page for full details on Carbon’s random number generator (RNG) auditing, cheating detection and compliance testing. Carbon takes every measure to prevent any scam or theft.
Does Carbon Poker Payout?
Yes – Carbon has built a reputation for reliably and speedily paying out players. Player withdrawals have been processed consistently since 2005, to both the US and around the world, by cashiers check and Skrill.
Checks typically arrive in 2 – 4 weeks with no fee.
