Carbon Poker Reviews from Players
2015 update – Carbon remains open but no longer accepts affiliate signups, so we can no longer offer support or exclusive promotions. For a rakeback-friendly room, we recommend Americas Cardroom. |
Update July 15, 2014 – Carbon has removed its VIP program – all VIP levels, VIP bonuses and VIP points are no more – to focus instead on promoting to recreational players and improve game quality. Read more here. |
As one of the top sites to still accept U.S. players Carbon Poker has attracted a lot of attention on online poker messageboards – the largest being the TwoPlusTwo Poker Forums.
Below we collated a sample of positive Carbon Poker reviews from users and experienced players, posted after Carbon’s recent changes, including the introduction of the Carbon Elite VIP level.
Carbon Poker Reviews 2014
Software is superb, unarguably the best amongst US and A sites. Pry Merge’s biggest asset. Merge is still a great option IMO. it’s working for me and i dont project having a higher hourly elsewhere but it’s hard to say. |

Merge still has easily the best MTT schedule available for US players. In short, for the games and stakes you play, yes, you’ll find action. |

Carbon did respond to me earlier today saying that I will be considered for the Elite level at the beginning of next month. |

People should take a second to think about what Carbon has going for it (compared to US sites). im not the best to list them but a few of the top would be: Best software, LONG track record of paying out every player, large MTT field with varied tournaments running all day. |

The cash games at Carbon right now are pretty good imo. You won’t have any problem grinding from $4NL to $25NL FR or 6max. From $50NL onward, it gets a little scarce but if you mix in FR AND 6max, you’ll probably be ok there, too. |

Carbon Poker Withdrawal Reviews
Cashout reviews are overwhelmingly positive as Carbon consistently sends out checks by mail for US players within a month or less. Check out the latest withdrawal speeds on our US Poker Cashout Report.
Carbon Poker Negative Reviews
The thread linked above is intended for voicing complaints, and as such many of the posts are negative. However pending future legislation American players have limited US friendly poker sites to choose from – each room has its drawbacks.
One could estimate a 50% satisfaction rating amongst US players on Carbon. Many choose to spread their action across several of the US facing poker rooms, hunting the best value in each.
I still find lots of value in merge . But most US grinders are playing some combination of merge WPN and bovada. Value hunt the best games on each site … Profit… EZ GAME |

Summary
Carbon has the best software, medium traffic and medium rewards. Bovada has no rewards, high traffic and the juiciest games, albeit on anonymous tables with no hand history tracking, leading to collusion concerns. The Winning Network (WPN, mainly Americas Cardroom and Black Chip) has slightly lower traffic than Merge, worse software yet higher rakeback.
All have fast payouts and high effective rake – whether that stems from the absolute value of rake (Carbon), the lack of rakeback (Bovada) or a progressive jackpot drop (WPN).
The main negative feedback on Carbon is their recent rake increase – to 5.56% with higher caps – and making the 35% rakeback tier – Carbon Elite – invite only.
For those outside the US the general consensus is to stick to industry leading rooms like PokerStars or Full Tilt where available.
