NBC is all set to debut its fifth season of Poker After Dark in its usual late night air time of 2:05am tonite and also with its usual cast of characters. Executive Producer, Mori Eskandani said, “Basically, we’re going to have 16 new episodes that will be spread out in 2009."

Party Gaming founder Anurag Dikshit has plead guilty to charges of violating an archaic US law that prohibits placing bets over a “wire”, or in this case – The Internet. Coughing up a staggering 300 Million US dollars, Mr. Dikshit has agreed to plead guilty and part with a significant share of his fortune. News of the settlement actually sent Party stock soaring, with the stock hitting an intraday high of ₤176.50.

Prior to the 2008 World Series of Poker, tournament officials announced there would be a 117 day break before the final table of the Main Event. Most considered it a success since television ratings and interest in poker exploded. As we go into 2009, participants in the World Series may be in for another change; rebuy tournaments may be a thing of the past.

After reporting a record month in October 2007, the Gaming Control Board has announced that Nevada had its single worst gaming revenue drop in the state's history. They reported that revenue was down more than $260 million or 22.3 percent for October 2008.

At one point during the incredible weekend session, Galfond had a stack of $1.5 million at a $500/$1000 No Limit Hold'em 6 max table. Poker After Dark TV series on NBC is set to air its fifth season beginning on December 29th with some of the biggest names in online and live poker. The new season will consist of 4 episodes that have not been aired from the previous season as well as episodes that are already scheduled to be filmed.
