To the delight of all poker fans High Stakes Poker team has announced the line-up of stars for their fifth season. It is sure to generate some excitement as the list includes some of the most recognized poker players in the world including the top two finishers of the 2008 Main Event, Peter Eastgate and Ivan Demidov. The game play will be filmed at the Golden Nugget Casino in Las Vegas on December 19-21. Other players scheduled to appear on the game are Doyle Brunson, Patrik Antonius, Phil Hellmuth, Michael Baxter, David Benyamine, Nick Cassavetes, Tom “durrr” Dwan, Eli Elezra, Antonio Esfandiari, Barry Greenstein, Phil Ivey, Phil Laak, Howard Lederer, Giorgio Medici, Dario Minieri, Daniel Negreanu, Ilari ”Ziigmund” Sahamies, and Sam Simon.

The High Stakes Poker format is the first to regularly feature high stakes cash games rather than tournaments and previous players have introduced some of the biggest action in the game. So unlike tournament poker, the chips involved represent real money. The upcoming show has already created some noise when it announced that the new minimum buy-in for all shows would be $200,000 instead of the old $100,000. By the end of last season though, players were already buying for $500,000 per player.

“High Stakes Poker, by a wide margin, has become a must-see on Game Show Network for poker players and poker fans all over the world,” said Henry Orenstein, the Executive Producer of the show, inventor of the hole card cameras and later a member of the Hall of Fame. “We are happy to bring back the top amateurs and professionals risking hundreds of thousands of their money in the new season.”
