    Industry Responds to Kentucky Gambling Ruling and Appeal

    It was a ground breaking week for the internet gambling and online poker industries. First, a three judge Court of Appeals panel overturned a lower court's decision on Tuesday. Then on Wednesday, the Commonwealth of Kentucky appealed the decision to its Supreme Court.  The Safe and Secure Internet Gambling Initiative (SSIGI) has been on the front lines of the fight for the industry both on Capitol Hill and Kentucky.

    Poker is a Game of Skill; Pennsylvania Judge Rules

    The case against a resident who ran a small stakes poker game in his garage has had his case dismissed by a Pennsylvania judge on the basis that poker is a game of skill and therefore cannot be governed under the Commonwealth's gambling laws.

    Allen Carter Wins Southern Poker Championship

    The first three days of the World Poker Tour Southern Poker Championship were more like a marathon than regular table play and the final table proved to be no different. The six players who made up the televised final table were virtual unknowns who played very cautiously for the nearly eight hours it took to complete the game.

    Legal Challenge for iMEGA May Resume in April

    The Interactive Media Entertainment and Gaming Association filed its response brief in a legal challenge hoping to declare the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA) unconstitutional back in November. The organization announced on Thursday that it has been contacted by the Third Circuit Court of Appeals inquiring about its availability in April.

    Full Tilt Responds to Clonie Gowan Lawsuit

    Full Tilt Poker has made their first official response to the lawsuit brought against them by former employee Clonie Gowan.  Her suit was brought in November 2008 after lengthy discussions between both sides failed to reach an agreement.  Gowan felt that she was owed money as a part owner of Tiltware, the company that provides the software for Full Tilt Poker.

    For those in the know, “DSE” stands for Deep Stack Extravaganza. The popular event debuted last year at The Venetian in Las Vegas during the World Series of Poker. The Deep Stack Extravaganza features large starting stacks of 6,000 chips for most events and 15,000 starting chips for the $2,000 Main Event.
