Many poker fans and players were surprised after an initial nomination of Tom Dwan to the exclusive Poker Hall of Fame. Not because of his ability as a poker player, but more so, his age and lack of results in big live tournaments.
After Tom Dwan's name was removed from the original list after the field being narrowed down. A spokesman for the Poker Hall of Fame Governing Council released, “With all due respect to Mr. Dwan, one of the games most exciting young players, he does not currently meet the criteria for Hall of Fame selection. We wish him well and expect he will again be considered once he has ‘stood the test of time.”
Tom Dwan, or Durrrr to his many fans, has become one of the best high stakes cash players on the planet. You would have to search the earth to find a poker player who has his experience at playing online cash games at the highest level. However, it is the rest of the criteria needed before consideration to be added to the Poker Hall of Fame that was missing.
The committee will have until October the 2nd before casting their final vote for the remaining 15 Poker Hall of Fame members that are still living and 15 other, with the induction ceremony being held on November the 7th.
