Phil Ivey recently announced to his fans that he plans the attend the upcoming Macau stop of the Asian Poker Tour (APT). The Macau stop of the APT, hosted by the Hard Rock Poker Lounge, will run from November 6-14, and features 12 events with buy-ins from HK $2,500 to HK $32,500 ($322 to $4,186).

The APT launched in 2008, when David Saab of Australia was crowned main event champion of the tour's first stop. Since then, the APT has consistently hosted two tournament series each year, one in the Philippines and one in Macau.

Ivey is widely regarded as the best player in the game--feared both on the felt, where he's racked up 8 bracelets and $13.5 million in cashes; and at the vitual tables, where he's tacked on another $18 million and is the winningest player in online poker history.

Ivey's presence at this year's Macau event will effect a measure of prestige that can't be bought. Though it's unusual for a tournament player's travel plans to be so openly publicized by a third party, the APT management have eagerly spread the word of his impending arrival in Macau, hoping the presence of a poker superstar will attract competitors and fans alike.
