The online poker discussion is picking up in Nevada, and it’s looking like the state doesn’t want to be left behind in the race to bring online gaming to the United States.
Sunday, the Las Vegas Review-Journal published an article that shed light on the continuing battle to bring legalized online gaming to the United States.
Randall Sayre, former Nevada Gaming Control Board member, who’s now a consultant for PokerStars, was quoted as saying “We can stand on the beach and let it wash over us, or we can recognize the potential economic opportunity for the state.”
This was after watching a packed hearing room where state regulators decided that a collaboration between Caesars Entertainment Corp. and the online gaming provider 888 Holdings was fit by Nevada’s standards.
With news pouring in daily about Iowa, New Jersey, California…and who knows which state is next, all making legislative attempts to legalize and regulate online gaming, it’s been quite amazing that Nevada, the gaming capital of the world, had yet to make the news regarding this hot topic….until just recently that is.
