Wednesday it was announced that the already ever-expanding television and online coverage of the 2011 World Series of Poker would get another major boost. WSOP.com will present live streaming coverage of 55 of the 58 final tables this summer. The three events not covered by the WSOP.com coverage are the $25K Heads-Up, $50K Poker Players Championship and the Main Event, which will be streamed live on ESPN3.
The coverage, which is sponsored by Jack Link’s Beef Jerky, will be presented with a mere five minute delay with no commentary. The only audio provided will be from each event’s tournament announcer, who’ll be describing the betting action as it occurs.
Of course with nearly live coverage, no hole cards will be shown. The WSOP is billing the broadcasts as “fly on the wall” video. The idea is to give people the ability to watch the final table as if they were there in person.
2011 marks the first time in history that all gold bracelet events will receive some sort of video coverage, and WSOP Executive Director Ty Stewart is excited about it.
“We are proud to provide video of the culminating action to a worldwide audience in real time,” said Stewart. “This online initiative will complement our spectacular television package on ESPN and deliver even more of this year’s WSOP to fans who want the most immediate coverage possible.”
