Following Phil Ivey's high-profile announcement that he would be skipping the World Series of Poker this year, the legendary Doyle Brunson has followed suit, posting the following to his Twitter account on Monday.
He followed up with a tweet saying, "It's not about money, I've lost a lot of passion for the game since Black Friday."
He also took the time to thank people for their concern while firmly assuaging any fears that his decision was related to deteriorating health, legal or financial situations. "I'm just gonna pass," he wrote. "Don't make a big deal."
Don't get too down about the prospect of a Brunson-less Main Event though. Doyle has said that his son Todd will still play the tournament and that his daughter Pamela may also play as well.
