Alex RodriguezWe’ll take MLB Gambling Scandals for $2,000 Alex.

Answer: “Shoeless” Joe Jackson, Pete Rose and…Alex Rodriguez.
Question: Who are three star baseball players who can’t keep away from a good bet.

Alex Rodriguez is under investigation by Major League Baseball for participating in illegal high-stakes poker games in Beverly Hills. A suspension is possible for the New York Yankees slugger, and given MLB’s hardline stance against gambling, it’s a possibility that Rodriguez could be in quite a bit of hot water.

Radar Online reported that Rodriguez took part in at least two games held at a record executive’s mansion in Beverly Hills where cocaine was “openly used and a fight broke out over one player’s $500K loss”.

This isn’t Rodriguez’s first skirmish with MLB over a possible gambling connection. In 2005 he was warned by the league for gambling in underground poker clubs by the New York Yankees and MLB Commissioner Bud Selig.

We respect the fact that Rodriguez might enjoy a good poker game, but given his already tarnished reputation, flirting with the MLB gambling rules seems like an unwise move at this point in his career.

MLB is planning to meet with Rodriguez to discuss the matter, and according to one source, the league has at least two investigators working on the case.
