2012 $25,000 WSOP Fantasy Draft

By , Rakeback.com Poker News Editor

In the days just ahead of the World Series of Poker, many of the world’s top poker pros convened in Las Vegas to hold a $25,000 buy-in fantasy draft.

Each participating team began with 200 points to spend on 8 players. Player names were called out and an auction was held – the highest bidder for each player got to add them to their team.

Scoring is heavily weighted towards reaching final tables, and events with higher buy-ins are worth more than events with lower buy-ins. Volume is key when drafting – players who spend too much time playing online poker or playing cash games aren’t good picks even if their poker skills are world-class.

The 5 priciest players were Phil Ivey (99 points), Jason Mercier (83), Daniel Negreanu (83), Eugene Katchalov (83), and Bertrand ‘ElkY’ Grospellier (69).
