European Poker Awards Handed Out

Nine deserving individuals can now say that they're European Poker Award recipients.

The European Poker Awards were held at the Aviation Club in Paris on Wednesday night. Although many people were nominated, just nine were given awards.

The winners were:

  • Player of the Year - Sam Trickett
  • Best Tournament Performance - Pius Heinz
  • Rookie of the Year - Andrey Pateychuk
  • Europe's Leading Lady - Natalia Nikitina
  • Poker Staff Person of the Year - Warren Lush
  • Internet Player of the Year - Ilari Sahamies
  • Poker Personality of the Year - Bertrand 'ElkY' Grospellier
  • Best European Event of the Year - WSOPE Cannes
  • Lifetime Achievement Award - Jesse May

Sam Trickett's 2011 was highlighted by three 7-figure scores, including a victory at the Partouche Poker Tour Final, so it's no wonder that he won the top honor of the evening.
