Ira Rubin Pleads Guilty to Three Black Friday Charges

By Matt Kaufman, Rakeback.com Poker News Editor

Earlier this week, payment processor Ira Rubin pled guilty in a Manhattan Federal Court to three counts of conspiracy. These charges, and six additional ones, were brought against him on April 15th, 2011 ("Black Friday").

The Black Friday charges against Mr. Rubin came due to his alleged involvement with processing payments to and from American customers of PokerStars, Full Tilt Poker, and Absolute Poker/UB.

Rubin is believed to have created several phony companies which were used by the three poker sites for the purpose of defrauding US banks.

Two other individuals who faced similar charges - Absolute Poker co-founder Brent Beckley and payment processor Bradley Franzen - have also plead guilty over the last several months.

Due to his plea, Ira Rubin is now expected to serve between 18 and 24 months in prison.
