On Wednesday, the World Series of Poker released several details about the 2012 WSOP in a press release. Several of the most noteworthy details are:
- The WSOP will run from May 27th through July 16th, 2012
- 61 bracelets will be awarded
- The $1 million buy-in "Big One for One Drop" will take place on July 1st
- The $10,000 buy-in Main Event Championship will take place on July 7th
- As they suggested via Twitter yesterday, the November Nine is NOT being removed in the truest sense; it is simply being moved to October. The reason for this is to avoid overlap with Election Day (this also explains how Obama, Romney, and Gingrich "affected the WSOP" as was suggested on Twitter as well. Yes, we agree, this is lame).
There are also several new events added for this year, including a $3K Heads-Up NLHE/PLO, a $5K Mix-Max NLHE (the table size changes on each day), a $2.5K 4-handed NLHE, and a $1,500 Ante Only NLHE (only antes, no blinds). Check out the complete schedule for yourself:
