Tiger Woods is arguably the best golfer in the world, but a few days ago he tried a game that we're a bit more familiar with - No-Limit Hold'em.
The Tiger Jam in Las Vegas is a charity golf and poker event with a 2-day golf tournament and a poker night at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino's poker room. All proceeds from the event went towards the Tiger Woods Foundation. Over the years that it has been taking place, the Tiger Jam has raised over $15 million.
This year's poker tournament was hosted by Phil Hellmuth and guests included Doyle Brunson and Ben Lamb. By the time all of the cards were dealt, it was Texas Dolly who accumulated all of the chips - and he defeated Phil Hellmuth heads-up to do it. Ben Lamb finished in 4th place.
Brunson took to Twitter after his victory:
@TexDolly - Tiger Woods was a great host. Part of my prize was a putting lesson from Tiger. I told him I would give him a lesson... Lol
@TexDolly - Part of my prize for winning Tiger Woods' poker tourney was 2 tickets to a Bon Jovi concert. I told Tiger I barely knew who Bon Jovi was.
Hellmuth's Tweets focused on what actually happened at the event:
@phil_hellmuth - 21st bracelet battle! @TexDolly + I agree to sell round w @TigerWoods (1st place) for TW Foundation whoever wins; made 75k MORE for charity!
Events like these are a great way to show poker in a positive light to the public. Money was raised for charity, and 3 poker pros finishing in the top 4 places certainly highlights that poker is a game of skill. Woods, Hellmuth, Brunson, and everyone involved did a great job.
