Revolution Network: Dealt Rake And 36% Flat Rakeback

By , Rakeback.com Poker News Staff Writer

The news broke last week that on June 1st Lock Poker will leave Merge, purchase Cake, and join with its player pool to form a combined network under a new name - Revolution Gaming - using Cake's software platform. Players from all rooms involved will notice a change in their rakeback payments.

Existing Cake Poker players will be used to 33% weekly rakeback, and the dealt system of assigning rake credit. Current Lock grinders will be familiar with the up to 35% rewards offered by the site's VIP program.

As of June 1st, the new Revolution Network (consisting of Lock, Cake, and other Cake Network skins as separate entities, all owned and run by Lock) will provide 36% dealt rakeback, paid directly into players' accounts weekly.

USA players will still be welcomed, and residents of Australia (restricted from Merge since April 2011) will also now be able to play on any Revolution Gaming room as of June 1st.

What's new for Cake players?

For Cake players from every skin, the move to Revolution will represent a pure 3% increase in rakeback, with no hidden changes to how rakeback works, deductions, or hits to affiliate commissions.

The change is simply a welcome boost to your winrate, designed to bring Cake's percentage cashback more in line with Lock's at the highest VIP tier. You can look forward to earning more money while you play.

What's new for Lock players?

For Lock players, this means a switch to Cake software, a screen-name change, and the move to flat rakeback for all, regardless of play volume.

There's now no need now to climb the levels of a VIP program to get the best rewards. All players will receive a guaranteed automatic 36% of their rake and tournament fees back into their account each and every week.

Many tight-aggressive players will notice even higher effective rakeback thanks to Revolution adopting the dealt rake method. This shared way of allocating rake credit benefits conservative, mass-tabling grinders.

For example when PokerStars controversially switched in the opposite direction, moving from dealt to weighted-contributed in January, many professionals reported a loss of 10% - 30% in rewards as a result, while loose and splashy recreational players saw an increase.

Other Benefits

Alongside the increased rakeback and player liquidity, Lock reps on the forums have promised to overhaul customer support, improve tournament structures, raise guarantees, and offer larger network-wide promotions (including the return of the $1 Million Ronin Rake Chase on June 1st).

Lock is said to be working on major improvements to the Cake game client ahead of the software platform switch.
