Viktor 'Isildur1' Blom Wins SCOOP Event 2-M

By , Rakeback.com Poker News Editor

Team PokerStars Pro Viktor 'Isildur1' Blom is one of the best high-stakes poker players in the world, but he's not exactly known for his tournament prowess. Until today, anyway.

The PokerStars Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP) is currently running. SCOOP is a massive set of 40 events - each of which has 3 buy-in levels - running through May 20th. In total, $30 million in prizes are guaranteed.

Considering the size of the prize pools, SCOOP frequently draws the attention of some of the world's best poker players, and this year is no exception.

On Sunday, SCOOP Event #2 (NLHE freezeout) began, and the middle buy-in was $215. It drew an astonishing 8,240 players - enough that some had to return to finish the tournament on Monday.

The winner on Monday was a man who we assumed wouldn't bother with $215 buy-in events - Viktor 'Isildur1' Blom. Blom is best-known for winning and losing 7-figure sums playing the biggest cash games in the world. In his normal games, $215 doesn't even pay for a round of blinds.

For his accomplishment, Blom's bankroll is now $247,200 bigger. Check out PokerStarsBlog for a more extensive recap of the action at the final table, including some key hands.
