Michael Mizrachi Wins $50,000 Poker Players Championship

By , Rakeback.com Poker News Editor

The $50,000 buy-in Poker Players Championship is generally considered the 2nd most prestigious WSOP event, with only the Main Event topping it (quality for the Main Event before it's too late!). This year perhaps the $1 million buy-in Big One For One Drop should be added to that list as well.

As always, an event with this buy-in lures only top players, and the final table included several familiar faces:

  • Bill Chen
  • Luke "Full_Flush" Schwartz
  • Andy Bloch
  • Stephen Chidwick
  • Michael Mizrachi
  • Chris Klodnicki
  • Bruno Fitoussi
  • Roland Israelashvili

A few other players who cashed but didn't reach the final table include David Oppenheim (9th), Daniel Alaei (11th), Jeff Lisandro (13th), and Viktor "Isildur1" Blom (14th). Blom apparently had never played any of the Stud games before this event and was surprised to learn from Daniel Negreanu that the 7th card is dealt face-down.

By the end of the event, it was Michael Mizrachi who collected all of the chips. This is an amazing accomplishment for "The Grinder" - he won the same event just 2 years ago. This is Mizrachi's 3rd WSOP bracelet, and he is the only player to win the Poker Player's Championship twice.

Mizrachi, as any sensible poker pro would, apparently used most of his $1,451,527 first-place prize to buy his seat for the $1 million Big One For One Drop, which will begin on Sunday.
