WSOP Update: Two New Bracelets & One Drop Participants

By , Rakeback.com Poker News Editor

The 2012 World Series of Poker has been moving along rapidly (you can still qualify to participate!). The last WSOP update we provided mentioned the first 6 bracelet winners, and since then 2 additional winners have been crowned. They are:

  • Event #6 - $5,000 NLHE Mixed-Max - Aubin Cazals for $480,564
  • Event #8 - $1,500 Omaha Hi/Lo - Herbert Tapscott for $264,400

Both Cazals and Tapscott had to defeat well-known players heads-up on their way to victory.

Cazals defeated 2010 November Niner Joseph Cheong (who has over $5 million in lifetime tournament earnings but is still searching for his first bracelet). Herbert Tapscott defeated Triple Crown winner Gavin Griffin on the way to his own WSOP bracelet.

Neither Cheong nor Griffin should be too displeased, however, considering Cheong earned $296,956 and Griffin earned $163,625 for their respective runner-up finishes.
