The largest bad beat jackpot in the history of Atlantic City was paid out on Monday - $787,320 in total.
Of that, $237,154 went to Narong Sae Whited for losing the hand, $158,422 went to Nick Angelakopoulos for winning, and $958 went to 409 players who happened to be in Caesars Atlantic City poker rooms at the time. The rest went to administrative expenses and seeding the next jackpot.
The "lucky" bad beat hand ended with a King-high Straight Flush beating Quad 9s, and it looked like this:

Although the jackpot set an Atlantic City record, it's still smaller than some bad beat jackpots that have taken place elsewhere, including online. The Boss Media network, which includes Rakeback.com partner site Poker Heaven, had its Bad Beat Jackpot hit for over $1.8 million in late July - the largest one ever online OR live.
Another 7-figure online jackpot was paid at the Merge Gaming Network, which includes several US-friendly Rakeback.com partner poker rooms, for over $1 million in January.
They say it's better to be lucky than good, but sometimes it's even better to be unlucky!
