Partouche Poker Tour Reneges on Prize Pool Guarantee

By , Rakeback.com Poker News Editor

The Partouche Poker Tour is currently running a tournament which advertised a €5 million guaranteed prize pool for months.

At €8,500 to enter, the 580 players who chose to buy in only add up to a €4.3 million prize pool. By the generally accepted standards of running a poker tournament (whether live or online), that means Partouche should be adding the €700,000 difference to the prize pool.

Partouche, however, has decided that won't be the case. The tour is claiming, despite an enormous amount of evidence against their claim, that the prize pool wasn't actually guaranteed. Here is perhaps the most damning piece of evidence that they're wrong:

At the event, Patrick Partouche somehow acted as if he were a victim when players were outraged that his company chose not to fulfill their promise. He even decided to cancel the tour forever:

Many pros have taken their outrage to Twitter, with Justin Bonomo even proposing that the top finishers in the event sue the tour. Rakeback.com will keep you updated on any developments related to this story, but unfortunately we don't expect any - it seems likely that the players will simply have to deal with this. For now, anyway.
