Chris “Moorman1” Moorman is just $90k short of being the first player to win $10m in online poker tournaments. In live tournaments only 19 players have reached the magic $10m mark.
Chris is also up almost $3m in live winnings, with his best result being a $1m score for a second place finish at the WSOP Europe Main Event in Cannes, France.
What is truly amazing is that Chris’ winnings haven’t bee the result of any really big online results. He has had his share of online victories, including the Full Tilt FTOPS XIII $300+22 rebuy for $204k in August '09. A final table finish, also in 2009, at the PokerStars SCOOP Main Event for $113,000 was his second biggest online win.
His winnings have come mainly from hard work, skill and long hours at lower buy in tournaments. This level of success isn’t possible playing on only one site. Chris selects the tournaments where he has the best chance of winning from across many online poker rooms.
Top online tournament pros have accounts at all the major online poker rooms, to give themselves access to the most profitable events, and maximize the number of tournaments that they can play during their working hours.
As a result, Chris has won 15 Triple Crowns, awarded for winning win three different tournaments on three different sites over the course of one week. Each tournament must have over 100 entrants, and a minimum prize pool of $10k.
Chris, who turned 28 in July, started playing online in 2006. Three years later he was ranked the number 1 online tournament player in the world. Now the British born player even has a Wikipedia page devoted to his career.
