Armed Robbery at Bellagio
A brazen robbery went down at the Bellagio in the early morning hours of Tuesday. At 3:50 am a man described as 5′ 10” and approximately 220 pounds drove up to the north valet entrance in a motorcycle. He entered the casino with a full face motorcycle helmet and walked up to a craps table holding a gun. The robber took chips in denominations ranging from $100 to $25k and fled the scene. He got away with around $1.5 million in chips.
Actually profiting from the heist might prove a little more difficult. Bellagio chips are thought to contain RFID, or a radio frequency identification device. Each chip contains a unique RFID marker. The known stolen chips can be flagged and identified if they ever attempt to be cashed.
The robber is thought to be the same person who hit the Suncoast Casino poker room on December 8th. The robber used the same M.O to take off with around $20,000.
Check out the video below of the robber as he fled the scene.
