According to the daily French financial newspaper, Les Echos, Caesars Entertainment is expected to announce a partnership with two French companies to increase its promotion of the World Series of Poker brand across Europe. More specifically, the Caesars Interactive branch of the company (headed by former PartyGaming CEO Mitch Garber) that will be involved in the partnership.
Lucien Barriere, the casino market leader in France, and La Francaise des jeux, the provider of France’s national lottery and online gaming, are the two French companies expected to join forces with Caesars.
The partnership is similar to the one Caesars struck with Microgame in Italy, which allowed Caesars to more aggressively market the WSOP in the country.
Details are unclear until the official announcement, which is due on Wednesday. It’s expected that the WSOP brand will be promoted on the Barrerepoker.fr online poker site or that it will be operated as a separate WSOP skin of the site.
The partnership occurs less than year after the French government approved regulated online gaming in the country.
