New Ownership for Absolute Poker and Ultimate Bet brands.

Blanca Games, Inc. lead by Stuart Gordon announced August 26th they have purchased the Cereus Poker Network, which includes both AbsolutePoker.com and UB.com. The terms of the deal were not immediately released. The Kahnawake Gaming Commission, regulators for the Cereus Network, is reported to have approved the deal. No changes in the software or playing experience of either site is expected. Mr. Gordon was quoted “Although we are impressed with many of the new security features on the Network today, security is and will remain our top priority. We’re also pleased with the efficiency and the player-friendly approach of Cereus’s customer service operation, but we will always be seeking to improve in this area.”
This will prove to be good news for the players on the Cereus Network as they are still recovering from the superuser scandal that rocked the online poker world back in 2007. Cereus also has had to deal with questions about the encryption software that the site was using which was first reported by PokerTableRatings.com. Recently during the Ultimate Bet Online Championship, a series of guaranteed poker tournaments on UB.com, it was reported on the 2+2 Poker Forums some software glitches occurred in the recent Limit Omaha 8 or Better event. The software was not allowing the correct betting for a limit tournament and was also allowing the big blind to go all-in.
Only time will tell if the new owners at Blanca Games are able to distance themselves from the past wrongdoings of the previous regime.
