Durrrr Challenge II Back In Action
By Scott Carlson, Rakeback.com Staff Writer
Back in late August Tom ‘durrrr’ Dwan started round 2 of his 50k hand challenge against Daniel ‘jungleman12’ Cates. The first few days of the challenge saw nearly 4k hands go down. With all of the activity over in London during the month of September the challenge took a break. With the calendar changing to October, the action heated up again over at Full Tilt on Saturday.
First off an overview of the challenge. Dwan challenged anyone to a 50k hand match on Full Tilt. The stakes are $200/$400 pot limit omaha or no limit hold’em. If Dwan is ahead after the 50k hands he wins $500k in addition to whatever money he wins at the tables. If Dwan loses he ships an additional $1.5 million to his opponent.
The first challenge was against Full Tilt Pro Patrik Antonius. The challenge started back in early 2009 and to date a little over 40k hands have been played. Currently Dwan is up a little over $2 million against Antonius.
The Durrrr Challenge II has been a lot more action packed. You will likely see the end of the challenge with Cates sooner than the conclusion with Antonius.
The session on Saturday saw a short 582 hands played with Dwan winning a scant $1,430 in a little over one hour of play. Even though the session was short the two played five hands that had pots bigger than $35k with the biggest pot reaching nearly $104k. So far the challenge has seen 4,359 hands with Cates up $689,599.50.
