First Time is the Charm for Jeff Forrest at WPT Foxwoods
By Scott Carlson, Rakeback.com Staff Reporter
Jeff Forrest entered his first career World Poker Tour event last week at the Foxwoods World Poker Finals. Little did he know that beginners luck would kick in and he would win it all. After five days of play Forrest would outlast a field of 242 players to take down the $548,752 first place prize.
Forrest, 22, is fairly new to the poker scene. His first major cash was last year in a $5,000 Venetian Deep Stack Extravaganza event where he finished 6th for a little over $60k. He backed-up that cash with a $117k score in a $1,500 side event at the PokerStars Carribean Adventure in January along with two small cashes at the World Series of Poker this summer. Forrest has had a great start to his live tournament career.
Forrest defeated Dave Inselberg on the 203rd hand of the final table. Inselberg, who entered the final table with just 14 big blinds, put forth an amazing effort to finish in 2nd. The complete final table payouts were as follows:
1st: Jeff Forest – $548,752
2nd: Dave Inselberg – $325,608
3rd: Thomas Marchese – $211,759
4th: Nikolai Yakovenko – $170,773
5th: Keven Stammen – $128,650
6th: Mohsin Charania – $104,741
The WPT goes international in the month of November with stops in France and Marrakech before returning stateside for the Five Diamond World Poker Classic at Bellagio in the beginning of December.
