Phil Hellmuth Drops His Biggest Name Yet – W.
By Nathan Carroll, Rakeback.com Poker News Writer
What would you wear to meet a former U.S. president? If you answered “a suit,” you’re either this guy, or anyone else with half a lick of sense. If you answered “a leather jacket and a baseball cap adorned with your own personal logo,” then check your ego, because you must be none other than the Poker Brat himself, Phil Hellmuth.
Hellmuth, who has a long and successful history of name-dropping on Twitter, surprised his followers (59,000 strong) by revealing that he recently had a chance to meet our nation’s 43rd president, George W. Bush. He tweeted:
“WOW! Gave George Bush a signed book + signed beer can at his library at SMU + we hit it off really well! Found him to be witty + engaging…”
As seen in this pic, former Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice was also on the scene. She and Bush are enrapt as the Poker Brat expounds on the finer points of Texas Hold’em.
The beer can he’s referring is one of the 12 million Busch Light cans bearing his likeness, and the book is presumably Deal Me In, a recent release from Hellmuth’s publishing company that details the story of 20 poker pros.
Will W actually give it a read? He’s a busy man, so I’d have to guess no. But his successor, President Obama, is commonly known to be a poker enthusiast. I have no doubt Hellmuth is already trying to parlay his recent audience with a former head of state into a meeting with Obama. When that happens, his Twitter followers will be the first to know.
