Eight Arrested At Home Poker Game
by Scott Carlson, Rakeback.com Staff Writer
A high stakes home poker game was raided by Mount Olive and state Alcohol Law Enforcement agents August 26th after receiving complaints from the public. Along with the eight people arrested, law enforcement officials confiscated cards, chips, a poker table and $23,700 during the mid-day raid. In cases such as these, the Poker Player’s Alliance (PPA) will sometimes intervene and offer legal assistance on behalf of the accused. In this case, it is too early to tell what, if any, assistance the PPA will offer.
The raid marks another example in a worldwide crackdown on illegally operated private poker games and underground casinos. The raid comes just two weeks after 160 were arrested in an underground casino in Hong Kong.
