Randal Flowers Takes Down 2nd Career WPT Title
By Scott Carlson, Rakeback.com Staff Writer
Randal Flowers, dubbed the “Justin Bieber of Poker”, thanks to his haircut and youthful looks, took down his second career World Poker Tour title by winning the Festa al Lago at Bellagio. Flowers pocketed $831,500 for the victory. Flowers, 22, became the youngest player to win a WPT event last year when he won the WPT Spanish Championship. Well, he now owns the record for the youngest player with two WPT victories.
Flowers bested a final table including Michael Benvenuti (2nd), Noah Schwartz (3rd), Jason Koon (4th), Andy Frankenberger (5th) and Skip Wilson (6th). Frankenberger was looking to become only the 6th person in WPT history to win two events in the same season. He won the Legends of Poker event in Los Angeles back in August.
Other notables who cashed but failed to make the final table of six include Allen ‘Chainsaw’ Kessler (7th), Full Tilt Pro Jeff Madsen (11th) and Team PokerStars Pro Annette Obrestad (13th). Obrestad entered the penultimate day as the chip leader with 13 players remaining but lost two monster pots in the first hour and ended up being the first elimination of the day. Obrestad was looking to become the first woman to take down a WPT event.
