WPT Festa al Lago Underway at Bellagio
Friday marked the beginning of the latest stop on the poker tournament trail with the World Poker Tour Festa al Lago at Bellagio. The $10,000 main event attracted 280 players for day one although registration is still open for another three levels into day two. As of the end of the first level of day two an additional 30 players registered upping the total to 311 participants. Payouts will be determined once late registration is closed.
Early bustouts in day one included Justin Bonomo, Eli Elezra and Mike Sexton. Also busting on day one was Full Tilt‘s Scott Montgomery. This wrapped up a tough week for him which included being held up at knife point earlier in the week in a Bellagio bathroom during the break of a preliminary event.
Other well known pros surviving through the first level of day 2 include chip leader Payman Arjang (220,000), Jeff Madsen (140,000), UB pro Joe Sebok (91,000), newly minted Team PokerStars pro Vanessa Selbst (78,000) and Allen ‘The Chainsaw’ Kessler (61,000).
The final table will take place on Wednesday, October 20th.
23-Way Chop at Foxwoods Tournament
A $400 no limit hold’em preliminary event at the Foxwoods World Poker Challenge ended in what may be the biggest chop in poker history. 23 players ended up chopping up the prize pool according to the Foxwoods Poker Live Blog. The winner was determined to be John Agelakis who earned $12,011 for the “victory.” What is particularly amusing is the winner’s photo which shows all of the chips in front of him along with the trophy and his winning hand. Incidentally 23rd place played a touch over $10,000.
