WSOP Circuit Regionals Find Television Home
In a press release yesterday, WSOP officials announced that the four WSOP Circuit Regional Championships will be broadcast on Versus beginning June 2011. The $10,000 main events at the four stops will be filmed. Each episode will feature two hours of coverage from each stop.
Poker Productions will provide the television production. They are best known for producing several poker television events including the WSOP Europe, High Stakes Poker and the National Heads-Up Poker Championship.
The four Regional Championships that will be covered are at Horseshoe Hammond (Chicago Area), which began this week, Harrah’s Atlantic City in December, Harrah’s Rincon (San Diego Area) in March and Harrah’s New Orleans in May. All nine players at the final table will earn a berth in the $1 million Tournament of Champions to be held at Caesars Palace right before the start of the 2011 WSOP in late May. The winner of the TOC will also win an official WSOP bracelet.
Expect all of the top tournament pros like Team UB Pro Phil Hellmuth, Full Tilt‘s Phil Ivey, Doylesroom‘s namesake Doyle Brunson and PokerStars Pro Daniel Negreanu to be a few of the faces to arrive for the televised events.
