WSOP November 9 – Meet the Players Part 3

By Scott Carlson, Rakeback.com Staff Reporter
In the last of our three part series we will let you know about seats 7-9 for the November 9 and we will let you know our fearless predictions. You can read part one here and part two here.

The Players (continued):

Seat 7 –  John RacenerJohn Racener November 9

  • Starting Chip Count – 19,050,000 (38 bb)
  • Hometown: Port Richey, FL
  • Occupation: Professional Poker Player
  • Final Table Sponsorship: Full Tilt
  • Career Tournament Earnings: $2,075,387
  • Bodog Odds of Winning: 13/2

Racener is our second most accomplished player at the final table. He is also one of three players who reside in Florida. Racener is a WSOP Circuit grinder. He won the $5k WSOP Circuit event held at Harrah’s Atlantic City back in 2007 for $379,392. He also has 12 career WSOP cashes to his name including a final table at the WSOP Europe $5k Pot Limit Omaha event this summer where he finished 3rd for just under $61k. Racener could be another player to watch if he is able to double-up early at the final table.

Seat 8 –  Filippo Candio
Filippo Candio November 9

  • Starting Chip Count – 16,400,000 (33 bb)
  • Hometown: Cagliari, Italy
  • Occupation: Professional Poker Player
  • Final Table Sponsorship: Full Tilt
  • Career Tournament Earnings: $1,065,354
  • Bodog Odds of Winning: 11/1

Candio is the first Italian to reach the final table of the main event. His only major cash prior to the main event was a win for $185,271 at the 2009 Italian Championships. Since the break he has cashed in one event, a $200 preliminary at the Caesars Palace Classic in which he finished 3rd for $4,726. Candio is a true wild card at the final table. He could be the first one out or he could build a monster stack early. Only time will tell.

Seat 9 –  Soi NguyenSoi Nguyen November 9

  • Starting Chip Count – 9,650,000 (19 bb)
  • Hometown: Santa Ana, CA
  • Occupation: Medical Supply Sales
  • Final Table Sponsorship: Full Tilt
  • Career Tournament Earnings: $825,303
  • Bodog Odds of Winning: 16/1

Nguyen, our second shortest stack at the final table, is also our only non-professional poker player to reach the November 9. Nguyen is also the only player over 30 at the final table at the grizzled age of 37. Nguyen only had one cash before the main event for a modest $1,980. Since the break he finished 34th at the WPT Legends of Poker for $11,500. If he gets a hold of some chips early and pulls out a miracle could he be the new Chris Moneymaker?

Fearless Predictions

With 3rd through 7th around the same starting stack this is going to be a tough one to predict. Going by straight odds I think the best bets are John Racener at 13/2 and Matt Jarvis at 10/1. Here are my guesses for the final finishing order:

1st – John Racener
2nd – John Dolan
3rd – Joseph Cheong
4th – Matt Jarvis
5th -Jonathan Duhamel
6th – Michael Mizrachi
7th – Jason Senti
8th – Filippo Candio
9th – Soi Nguyen

There you have it. Check back next week and we will see how we did.
