Aussie Millions $100,000 Buy-In Final Table Reached

By Adam Sowell, Rakeback.com Poker News Staff Writer

Gus Hansen’s recent hot streak is showing no signs of cooling now that he’s in Australia, and today he hopes to add yet another 7 figures to his already sizable bankroll. With 8 players left in the $100,000 buy-in event at the Aussie Millions, Gus leads the field with a stack of 567,000 in chips.

If anyone looks to stand in Gus’s way, it’s going to be Joe Hachem. The 2005 World Series of Poker Champion Hachem is sitting on 538,000 chips and doesn’t appear to be intimidated by any of Hansen’s moves.

22 players original entered the event, and with Tom “durrrr” Dwan and Daniel Negreanu already eliminated, the biggest remaining name in the field is Tony G who is 6th in chips with 102,000. Nam Le, Sam Trickett, Mikhail Smirnov, Dan Smith, and Sorel Mizzi complete the field. With the top 4 places paying out, half of these players will earn a big pay day.

There is plenty of action left at the table, and the home crowd will be pulling for their Aussie hero in Hachem to take down the title. Will Joe succeed in stopping Hansen, or will the Great Dane continue his remarkable January?

Rakeback.com will have a recap of how the final table plays down tomorrow.
