Many poker enthusiasts recognize Gary Loveman from his spots during ESPN’s World Series of Poker broadcasts encouraging people addicted to gambling to seek professional help.
Of course, as CEO of Caesars Entertainment, it should come as no surprise that he recently penned an article published by Fortune Magazine titled Online Poker: Legalize it!
In the article, which appeared online Tuesday, Loveman outlines the steps that should be taken to bring online poker back to the United States in a safe, legal manner.
For the most part, Loveman rehashes ideas that have already been discussed by many others. He stresses the importance of preventing those under the age of from participating in online gambling and also says that the bill should provide “unprecedented” funding for help for problem gamblers.
Loveman compares the current state of online poker in the United States to the prohibition of alcohol during the 1920’s and 1930’s. While this is hardly the first time this comparison has been made, it certainly is a valid one.
It’s an interesting read and you can check out the entire article here.
