Seidel Hoists Another High-Roller Trophy
By Ian Hiaring, Rakeback.com Poker News Staff Writer
2011 has been a good year for Erik Seidel, no matter how The Hendon Mob ranks poker players. Monday evening, Seidel took down the L.A. Poker Classic’s $25K High Roller Tournament and pocketed nearly $150K in the process.
The eighteen person field was star-studded, with fellow Full Tilt Poker Pros in the tournament such as Erick Lindgren and Chris Ferguson.
After Josh Areih busted on the money bubble in fourth place, the three remaining players made a deal, and a short time later, Seidel’s pocket rockets held against Team PokerStars Pro Bertrand ‘ElkY’ Grospellier’s suited AQ, and Darren Elias’ pocket nines. The deal left all three remaining players with nearly the same amount of prize money, but it would be Seidel hoisting the trophy in the end.
Seidel’s sick 2011 run began at the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure in January with a third place showing in an preliminary event followed by a fourth place showing in the high roller event which netted him nearly $300K. Seidel rode his hot streak halfway around the globe to the Aussie Millions, where he placed third in the $100K challenge and fourth in the $250K High Roller Event and left Australia with over $3 million in winnings.
