GPI European Internet Player of the Year Award Won by Team Ivey Pro Toby Lewis
At university, Toby started his poker career playing $5 sit and go tournaments. He studied hard—at poker—and gradually built his bankroll.
He started his live poker career in 2009 and by 2010 had managed a 7th place finish at the Venice stage of the Italian Poker Tour. He then won the European Poker Tour event in Villamoura, Spain, pocketing almost $600k in winnings
2011 saw him finish 11th in the $10k Pot-Limit Hold’em World Championship, followed up with five cashes in the 2012 WSOP. In total, Toby has over $2m in live tournament winnings.
The internet is where he has made the most money with almost $3m in online tournament victories. In the 2011 PokerStars World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) he finished 6th in the $10k Main Event, taking home $167k. He has another 100 or so top 3 finishes including 47 online tournament wins.
His award was presented at the European Poker Tour event in Deauville, France. A globe trotting career as a poker pro looks assured.
