Netherlands Steps Up Efforts to Legalize Online Gaming

With a change in leadership last fall, it was reported that the new administration in the Netherlands would be looking to legalize online gaming within the country.
Saturday Fredrik Teeven, the State Secretary of Security and Justice, confirmed that all the talk from October of last year wasn’t just lip service by sending a letter to the Dutch Parliament outlining reasons why the ban of internet gaming should be lifted for the country’s residents.
The plan is to grant licenses for internet gaming and eliminate the restrictions currently in place in the Netherlands. Teeven noted in the letter that several major European countries such as Italy, France, Britain, and others already have allowed regulated internet gaming, and the Netherlands should be following suit.
Teeven also stated the auctioning of internet gambling, as well as lottery licenses, would generate over €10 million per year once legalized.
Stay tuned, as the Rakeback.com News Team will bring you the latest on the efforts to bring legalized gambling to the Netherlands.
