New Jersey Online Gambling Bill Moves Forward as Planned
By Nathan Carroll, Rakeback.com Poker News Staff Writer
As promised, New Jersey State Senator Raymond Lesniak has reintroduced a piece of legislation proposing an intra-state online gambling network in New Jersey.
Governor Chris Christie vetoed a similar bill in March of this year, but this time around Senator Lesniak feels like there’s a bit more momentum behind his cause. Lesniak and his allies in government have framed the issue around the ailing horse breeding and racing industry which has historically been a cornerstone of the central New Jersey economy.
The previous bill passed in both houses of the state legislature, and this version is expected to do the same. The real test will come when the bill reaches Christie’s desk for a second time. Will he stand by his earlier decision or be swayed by Lesniak’s arguments?
