PKR Poker Launches Lottery Sit & Gos
PKR Poker introduces Jackpot Sit & Gos. The lottery style hyperturbo tournaments are priced from $0.30 to $12, with the top prize pool set at 1,000 times the buy-in. Payers at the $12 games could win $10,000 in just a few minutes of play.
Lottery Sit & Gos are the latest game revolution to hit online poker. Niche operator PKR is the latest to launch a version of the game, ahead of such industry titans as 888poker and PartyPoker.
The PKR incarnation of what is called a Spin & Go on PokerStars, is the Jackpot Sit & Go.
In keeping with PKR’s target market, the buy-ins for the new game start as low as $0.30 and peak at $12.
“We’re a little late to the party but glad to be here,” said Head of Content & PR Dan Grant.
“PKR poker players have been asking for this feature and we’re delighted to give them our fun, colourful take on it. We’ve already seen a huge surge in interest on day one and we can’t wait to see the first $10,000 winner crowned,” he continued.
The Jackpot Sit & Gos feature a three payer hyper turbo tournament which is over within a few minutes. The prize pool is determined randomly, and ranges up to 1,000 times the buy-in.
The distribution of the prize payouts is determined statistically, so only 1 in 20,000 games produce the top prize pool. For the lower buy-ins 77.7% of the time, the prize pool is twice the buy-in. The $12 and $6 games have a slightly different prize distribution reflecting their lower rake, so the smallest two buy-in prize pool occurs 77.1% of the time.
In PKR’s Jackpot Sit & Gos, the winner takes 83.33% of the prize pool, second place takes 10%, and third place get a consolation prize of 6.67%, so nobody goes home empty-handed.
Jackpot Sit & Go Rake
Unlike normal tournaments, there is no specific entry fee. The rake is calculated so that the total amount of prize money paid out is less than the total amount of buy-ins over a large sample. In effect, the low buy-in games charge 6.67% in rake, while the two high buy-in games charge 5.83%.
These fees are slightly higher than those charged at equivalent PokerStars Spin & Gos, but the compensation is that the top prizes pay out more often. The $3 Spin & Go top prize is 3,600 times the buy-in, but it only hits 1 in 100,000 games.
PKR Poker Remains Unique
If you haven’t yet tried out PKR, you are missing out on the most individual online poker site in the market. The company was founded by UK games developer Jez San, who decided to apply his considerable IT skills to his favourite hobby, poker.
PKR poker uses high quality 3D graphics just like a modern Playstation or X-Box game, and player avatars are much more active than those at 2D sites. When you take a look at your cards in PKR, so does your avatar, creating the opportunity for a much more immersive experience.
For players who want a little less of the 3D experience, the latest software updates provide an alternative playing environment which makes multi-tabling a lot easier.
In 2002, Jez San was warded with an OBE for his services to online gaming, the first honor the Queen gave out to the computer games industry. He stood out from the crowd then, and PKR stands out from the crowd today.
