Stratosphere Robbery Fail
By Ian Hiaring, Rakeback.com Poker News Staff Writer
A man was foiled in his attempt to rob a change counter in the poker room at the Stratosphere in Las Vegas last week. His problem…he couldn’t find anything to take.
According to the Las Vegas Police Department, the man jumped the change counter armed with a gun and then fled the scene “when he realized there wasn’t anything to take”.
Players in the poker room at the time reported that the would-be robber was decked out in PokerStars and Full Tilt Poker gear and heard him shouting obscenities about Black Friday and triple merge ranges as he entered the room.
Could we be on the verge of a crime wave similar to what was seen during the prohibition years in the United States?
OK, we’re just kidding about the Black Friday reference, but it does kind of make you wonder, doesn’t it?
The foiled robber managed to escape without a struggle and investigators are looking at surveillance video from the Stratosphere to attempt to track the criminal mastermind down.
Sahara Tournaments Moving to Stratosphere
The highly popular, low buy-in poker tournaments offered by the Sahara will be moving to the nearby Stratosphere once the Sahara shuts their doors for good on May 16. The $45 11pm tournament was a favorite of the locals and you could often see well named pros drinking and having a good old time.
Maybe in a couple of weeks there will finally be some cash in the till for the robber to make a second attempt.
