The 2017 World Series Of Poker Starts Next Week

The 48th annual World Series of Poker (WSOP) starts next week on Tuesday, May 30th in Las Vegas, Nevada at the Rio All Suite Hotel and Casino. The 2017 WSOP will include 74 bracelet events, and run through July 22nd.

This year’s WSOP has events for every level of poker player with buy-ins ranging from as low as $333 for an online event, to as high as $111,111 for the “High Roller for One Drop” charity event. The WSOP Main Event World Championship begins on Saturday, July 8th at 11 am PST.

No More “November 9”

The biggest change to this year’s WSOP comes in the $10,000 buy-in Main Event World Championship. Since 2008 the final table of the Main Event has been delayed until late October or early November, hence the term “November 9”.

This year however, the delay will be much shorter once the final table is determined. When the Main Event gets to nine handed, players will break this year for just two days before playing down to a winner over three days on July 20th, 21st, and 22nd.

The change will not afford the players the luxury of being well rested and coached up heading to the final table. In the past players would hire coaches and study their remaining opponents’ style and habits over the course of the extended lay off.

ESPN will again air the final table live (30 minute delay) all three nights starting at 6 pm PST.

3 Online Events This Year

Building on the success of past online WSOP bracelet events, this year’s WSOP includes 3 online tournaments…

  • Event #8: $333 buy-in Online No-Limit Hold’em with unlimited re-entries on Saturday, June 3rd @ 3:33 P.M.
  • Event #61: $3,333 buy-in High Roller Online No-Limit Hold’em with unlimited re-entries on Saturday, July 1st @ 3:33 P.M.
  • Event #71: $1,000 buy-in Online No-Limit Hold’em with unlimited re-entries on Friday, July 7th @ 2 P.M.

These events are limited to only online players at WSOP.com who log on from within the state of Nevada. For other US players looking to work on their online game, sign up for an Americas Cardroom account today.
