The Venetian announces 2009 DSE schedule

For those in the know, “DSE” stands for Deep Stack Extravaganza. The popular event debuted last year at The Venetian in Las Vegas during the World Series of Poker. The beauty of this event was that it wasn’t trying to directly compete with the WSOP. Rather, the folks at The Venetian were looking to provide a quality tournament that allowed players that busted out of the WSOP another option. It also gave players that didn’t want to shell out 5K to enter an event the opportunity to play in events starting at just $300.

As the name implies, the Deep Stack Extravaganza features large starting stacks of 6,000 chips for most events and 15,000 starting chips for the $2,000 Main Event. The longer levels also give players the chance to pick and choose their spots, encouraging solid game play. The format was a hit and over 19,000 players flocked to the Venetian during the 2008 DSE.

Heading into 2009, The Venetian has released the schedule for next month’s event. The first of what will be FOUR total events in 2009, the February event offers a range of tournaments for almost any budget. Since it is The Venetian, home to perhaps the nicest poker room in Las Vegas and also host of “The Real Deal” poker show, you may well see a big name pro or two playing in this tournament as well.

The schedule for the February event follows:venetian-las-vegas
