The 2017 World Series of Poker Main Event Final Table Set

The world’s most prestigious poker tournament started with 7,221 players, and now just 9 remain. After ten days of play, the 2017 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event final table is set.

This year, there will be no layoff, there is no “November 9”. Players will get just a couple days off to rest and prepare before returning to the felt this Thursday, Friday and Saturday to determine a world champion.

Saout & Lamb Return to Final Table

Two of the players making the final table will be doing so for the second time. French player Antoine Saout (2009) and American born Ben Lamb (2011) will lean on past experience.

Both of them have previously been under the bright lights and the pressure of a Main Event final table, each respectively finishing 3rd.

Ruane Nearly Goes Back to Back

Michael Ruane of Hoboken, New Jersey came close to making back to back Main Event final tables. Ruane finished 4th last year for $2,576,003 but had to settle for 10th this year as he was the last player eliminated before the final table.

Don’t feel too bad for him, he pocketed $825,001 this time around.

All the remaining players are guaranteed a $1,000,000 pay day, with the eventual winner bagging an incredible $8,150,000 in life changing cash.

Hesp Fulfills Lifelong Dream

Most notable of the finalists is 64 year old John Hesp of the UK. Purely a recreational player, Hesp entered the Main Event solely for the love of the game and to cross it off of his “bucket list”.

He has just $2,208 in lifetime earnings, but will enter final table play as one of the overwhelming chip leaders. He’ll be fun to watch, and is sure to keep the pro’s guessing with his unorthodox style and unpredictability.
