WPT Legends of Poker Crowns a Champion
Season Ten of the World Poker Tour is underway, and the Legends of Poker event at the Bicycle Casino in Los Angeles marked the first televised final table of the season.
Always a popular stop on the WPT, the Legends of Poker event usually draws good numbers, and 2011 was no exception. A total of 757 players entered the $3,700 Main Event, but at the end of the tournament, it was an East-Coast grinder who would walk away with the trophy and over three quarters of a million dollars.
Will Failla entered the six-handed final table with the chip lead, but managed to lose that lead after just a single orbit of play. Unfazed, Failla managed to not only regain the chip lead a short time later, but went on to claim victory.
Backed by a raucous crowd of supporters, Failla eliminated a short-stacked Ken Aldridge when his Jack-Six offsuit held up against a dominated Four-Six offsuit.
In addition to the WPT trophy, Failla pocketed $758,085 for his victory.
Here are the results from the final table of the 2011 Legends of Poker Main Event.
1 – Will Failla – $798,085
2 – Ken Aldridge – $365,800
3 – Jeff Vertes – $186,400
4 – Joshua Pollock – $128,500
5 – Adam Aronson – $102,800
6 – Owais Ahmed – $77,100
