The big name field includes top tournament money winner of all time, Antonio  “The Magician” Esfandiari, local Montreal resident and WSOP Main Event winner, Jonathan Duhamel plus two online poker regulars at the nosebleed stakes, Daniel “Mrgr33n13” Colman and Daniel “Jungleman” Cates.Partypoker premier league 7

This year the structure has been adjusted slightly. The players will play six heats, each heat will be a single table of eight players. Each player will therefore be in four of the heats.

Points are awarded based on finish position, with each point worth $2k of the prize pool. The four players with the highest total points score qualify for a six handed final table. The other two spots will be filled from the four runners up who will play each other heads up to earn their seats.

The winner walks away with an extra $400k and the benefit of full TV coverage with Kara Scott and Jesse May as host and commentator.

The full line up is:

  • Antonio  “The Magician” Esfandiari - No 1 money winner in the world and 3rd in this event last year.
  • Dan Shak - the defending Premier League Champion.
  • Phil Laak - “The Unabomber,” who said: “The Premier League is awesome. And Montreal is awesome!  Massively stoked for this event….!”
  • Vanessa Selbst - Widely seen as the top female poker player in the world.
  • Scott Seiver - Winner of PartyPoker Premier League 5.
  • Daniel “Jungleman” Cates - Runner up to Seiver in 2010, the high stakes cash game player takes on all comers at online stakes up to $500/$1000.
  • Jason Koon - 20th on the Global Poker Index and up over $2m in live tournament winnings.
  • Jeff Gross - Room mate of Olympic swimming legend Michael Phelps, the two have the mental game mapped out.
  • Sorel Mizzi - “Imper1um” and “Zangbezan24” the online poker tournament celebrity has clocked up $7.7m in live winnings bringing his poker income to just shy of $10m.
  • Daniel “Mrgr33n13” Colman - We agree with PartyPoker’s estimate: “This is a beast who we are yet to see in live environment and a big opportunity for him to show skills.”
  • Jonathan Duhamel - The 2010 WSOP Main Event winner took $8.9m plus the bracelet, but a few hundred k more won’t go amiss.
  • Brian Rast - Winner of two WSOP bracelets including the $50k Poker Players Championship.

The numbers sometimes get to levels where they can no longer be absorbed. These twelve players have between them over $50m in poker winnings, and the cojones to put $125k into a single tournament buy in.
