 Play, do not sit
Why would you ever sit out, especially if you have a chip lead. Yes AA and other monsters get beaten all the time. But we play poker because we enjoy the game and some make a living off of it, but we all want to play and love to win.
Sitting out is not playing poker, I can see if you need to let the dog or yourself out for relief, but to sit out so you will not lose is not a winning strategy. You can play tight when you get a lead and still wait for a big hand or you can use some of your stack to buy some pots, that is how the early lead turns into a monster chip stack. Do not give up an hours (or even minutes) worth of opportunities to take others chips. Do not be afraid to play any hand you decide to stand up with. Nothing is determined until the river, but get your money in with the best of it.
Use your poker instincts, make the decision and learn from any mistakes. That is playing poker. |
